So in honor of Presidents Day, I thought it would be fun to share who would make up our “Mount Rushmore” or hero’s. Which four men/women have been most influential in your walk with Christ? Who are your Spiritual “Giants?” You can’t use Jesus, because in this metaphor, He is the mountain itself. And you can’t use anyone that helped pen the Bible. They are a direct extension of the mountain itself. So, which four faces has the King used to influence you? Here are mine:
Pastor Charles H. Spurgeon:
I don’t think there has ever been a greater preacher in the history of mankind (except for maybe Paul). Spurgeon is absolutely spot on doctrinally and his messages ring with the absolute purity of truth. And each and every sermon seems to be rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ (which should be the aim of all preaching). No matter the text, he gives sound exegesis and exposition. If you have not partaken of Spurgeon, PLEASE do so! Almost all of his sermons are available in transcript and in audio reproductions. Here is an example below:
Pastor John Piper:
Like Spurgeon, Piper is extremely sound in his doctrine and theology. He is like a modern day Spurgeon. Sometimes, those who have great Scriptural knowledge, come across as arrogant and proud. Knowledge puffs up (1st Corinthians 8:1). But Pastor Piper, while being incredibly knowledgeable, presents that knowledge in a spirit of love and compassion. His heart for God and for His glory is manifested in every word that Pastor Piper speaks. His love for others and his desire to have them participate in his joy is also obvious in every sermon. And like Spurgeon, his material is widely available online in print, audion, and video. See an example below:
Dr. Kent Hovind:
Early on in my walk with Christ, I thought it was crucial to have all the answers. Later on I learned that faith trumps all. We aren’t required to have all the answers, but it sure is fun to learn some of them!! And it helps to solidify our faith and leaves us prepared to give an answer to skeptics and mockers (1st Peter 3:15). Dr. Hovind was given a FANTASTIC and life changing ministry in battling the theory of evilution. Evilution is at the foundation of much of the devils kingdom and Dr. Hovind has done tremendous damage to it. He takes complex sciences on origins and creation and makes them simple, fun, logical, and sound. After watching his video’s, a believer will more than likely be able to quench the fiery darts of evilution 99.99% of the time and will be able to explain the foolishness of evilution to almost anyone. Alex Jones:
Mr. Jones says that he is a Christian, but his material isn’t Christian in nature. God has used Alex Jones as THE definitive source for exposing the New World Order. While Jones fails to point people in the right direction, he does expose this evil, and we are called to do so (Ephesians 5:11). Mr. Jones problem is that he thinks the New World Order can be stopped with resistance. Those of us who know the Scriptures and have discrening eyes, know that the New World Order is in fact the beast system spoken of in Revelation. And this can’t be stopped, it’s prophesied. And God’s children are commanded not to resist PHYSICALLY (Revelation 13:10).
However we are called to be aware. We are told over and over to watch. To be sober minded. To be aware of the devils schemes. And NO ONE in the entire world is more spot on in exposing the devils schemes than Alex Jones. Specifically, his video documentaries are MIND BLOWING and LIFE CHANGING. If you have not seen them, I recommend going to google videos or youtube and watching several. Try “Police State 4: The Rise of FEMA,” “Fall of the Republic,” “9-11: The Road to Tyranny,” “End Game,” and the “Obama Deception,” to name a few.
